
Police have arrested and arraigned the driver of the YY Company bus that was involved in a fatal road crash in Buikwe District in May this year.
According to traffic police spokesperson Michael Kananura, the driver is identified as Musa Wadulo, who has been on the run since the accident occurred.
“We confirm the arrest of Wadulo Musa, the driver of the bus Reg. No UAV 701C, YY Company, which was involved in a road crash in Buikwe,” Kananura said in a statement.
Wadulo is facing 16 charges arising from the accident that claimed the lives of at least 33 people and left many others injured.
Kananura said Wadulo was produced before the Buikwe Chief Magistrate’s Court and subsequently remanded to Buikwe Prisons.

He has been charged with a total of 16 counts: 3 counts of causing death through reckless driving C/S 100(1) of the Traffic and Road Safety Act, Cap. 347; 12 counts of causing bodily injury through reckless driving C/S 100(2) of the TRSA, Cap. 347; and 1 count of causing an accident through reckless driving C/S 100(3) of the TRSA, Cap. 347,” said Kananura.
Following the crash, the Ministry of Works and Transport ordered a comprehensive inspection of all Y.Y. Coaches buses.
